Course Content
Definition of culture, factors forming culture; types of culture; basic concepts of intercultural communication; factors affecting intercultural communication; traditions and customs, cultural structures, attitudes, prejudices and discrimination; human and cultural structure, cultural differences and similarities; the use of models in intercultural care and culture-based health care models; health, illness and cultural interaction; the relationship between women and midwives in different cultures; migration and the cultural impact of migration; traditional / cultural practices for pregnancy and puerperium in Turkey; traditional / cultural practices for the newborn period in Turkey.
Objectives of the Course
It is aimed to teach the approaches to transcultural midwifery care by emphasizing the importance of transcultural midwifery care in the protection and development of the health of women, newborns and children as primary, and family and community health as secondary.
