History

The Midwifery Bachelor's Degree Programme began its educational activities in the autumn semester of the 2016-2017 academic year within the School of Health Sciences. Students who successfully complete their four-year education are awarded a ‘Bachelor's Degree in Midwifery’ and the title of ‘Midwife’. The School of Health Sciences was converted into the Faculty of Health Sciences by Decision No. 2023/7477 published in the Official Gazette dated 4 August 2023 and numbered 32268. It currently continues its education and training activities within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The mission of the Midwifery Bachelor's Degree Programme at KTO Karatay University is to is to train competent midwives who can adapt to the changing conditions of our country and the world, use scientific and technological innovations, support maternal, infant and community health with an interdisciplinary and holistic approach, adhere to scientific knowledge and ethical principles, are competent at the national level, are researchers, innovative and have an evidence-based approach to care, and uphold national and universal values.

The vision of the Midwifery Undergraduate Programme at KTO Karatay University is to be a department that follows social, economic and technological developments, contributes to the development of the midwifery profession with evidence-based practices, is environmentally conscious, innovative, committed to ethical and professional values, culturally sensitive, has a high sense of social responsibility, is respected at the national and international levels, and is a source of pride for its members.

According to YKS placement results; in 2016, the highest-ranked student among 9 foundation universities; in 2017, the fourth-highest-ranked student among 8 foundation universities; in 2018, the fourth-highest-ranked student among 11 foundation universities; in 2019, the second-highest-ranked student among 11 foundation universities; In 2020, the highest-ranked student among 15 foundation universities; in 2021, the fourth-highest-ranked student among 15 foundation universities; in 2022, the second-highest-ranked student among 15 foundation universities; in 2023, the highest-ranked student among 17 foundation universities; In 2024, the student ranked fifth among 17 foundation universities.
