Midwifery
The Midwifery Bachelor's Programme aims to train competent midwives who have adopted ethical and professional values based on scientific knowledge and contemporary educational principles, are sensitive to cultural differences, and prioritise individual, family and community health. The programme supports students in adopting evidence-based care practices, working in interdisciplinary collaboration, developing critical thinking skills, and continuing their professional development with a lifelong learning approach. In developed countries where the midwifery care model is applied, the rate of positive experiences during childbirth and the postpartum period is high, while unnecessary interventions, caesarean sections, and maternal and infant mortality rates are low. The implementation of the midwifery care model is one of the most important factors in increasing the level of development of society. In this regard, the Midwifery Department of KTO Karatay University strives to train midwives who adopt, implement and develop the midwifery care model. In this regard, our programme educational objectives are as follows:
1. Provides midwifery services in public and private health institutions or by establishing their own businesses in line with their entrepreneurial skills, with an awareness of their roles and responsibilities in order to protect and improve health at every stage of life, especially during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
2. Continues their professional development in line with the principle of lifelong learning.
3. To take an active role in academic and scientific research and professional policy development at the national and international levels.
4. To participate in economic, technological, or social projects at various levels in organisations established for professional and community service purposes.
