Course Content
The state of newborn health worldwide and in Turkey; basic concepts in neonatology; newborn care in the delivery room; assessment of the newborn's health status—procedures specific to newborns; principles of newborn care. Thermoregulation; admission of patients to neonatal units. Communication; immunization; principles of follow-up and challenges for term, preterm, and low birth weight newborns; midterm exam; neonatal resuscitation; nutrition in newborns (breast milk, enteral, parenteral nutrition); neonatal diseases and congenital anomalies -1; neonatal diseases and congenital anomalies -2; neonatal diseases and congenital anomalies -3; neonatal transport. Includes topics related to neonatal discharge procedures.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to ensure that the midwife has sufficient knowledge and skills in the follow-up and care of healthy newborns, problems that may be encountered in the neonatal period and deviations from normal.
