Course Content
It includes vocabulary and grammar rules for students to use the language effectively in their fields.
Objectives of the Course
The course objective is to increase students'vocational vocabulary treasure, to make them use the language when they need it while performing their vocation, to make students understand reading and listening texts consisting of vocational terminology.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 Introductions and talking about the objectives/outcomes of the course.
2 1A) Listening & Speaking: How to understand key information in a presentation and make notes. Grammar: Present simple tense. (Pages: 9-10-11) HOMEWORK: You will be given a 2-minute presentation assignment on self-introduction.
3 Listening to the presentations. 1B) Reading: Identifying text types and topics. Reading the text "Learning new skills", answering questions and making notes. (Pages 12-13) HOMEWORK: TASK 4 on page 14 will be given as homework.
4 Homework check 2A) Listening & Speaking: Evaluating academic websites and understanding their design. Video: Watch a student presentation and take notes. How should the presentation language be? Sequencing words (Firstly, secondly...) (Pages 23-24-25) HOMEWORK: 3 minute Powerpoint presentation assignment (See TASK 5)
5 Presentations will be made and evaluated. HOMEWORK: 2D) Vocabulary part will be homework.
6 Homework check. 2C) Writing: How to write a description? Academic language: Noun phrases with adjectives. Sorting adjectives. A descriptive paragraph will be written with the class. (Pages 30-31) TASK: Students will choose a company or organization and describe it. (See TASK 3) (100 words minimum)
7 Midterm exam
8 Homework will be given feedback. 2C) Writing: Analyzing a paragraph of description. Academic language: In addition, also, so, or, and, but. A descriptive paragraph will be written with the class using these conjunctions. (Again about a company or organization.) Information about the midterm will be given. (Pages 32-33)
9 3A) Listening & Speaking: Talking about the Olympic Games. VIDEO: Watch a video lecture on this topic and take notes. Grammar: Comparative and Superlative. (Pages 37-38-39) HOMEWORK: They will be given a 3-minute presentation assignment. They will introduce a city from Turkey. (See Task 5)
10 Presentations will be made and evaluated. HOMEWORK: 3D) Vocabulary part will be homework.
11 Homework check 4A) Listening & Speaking: Working on statistical tables. VIDEO: Watching a student presentation on global cocoa production. Academic language: Saying numbers exactly or approximately. (Pages 51-52-53)
12 5C) Writing: Making definitions and descriptions. Academic language: a new word / idea + be + noun phrase. The class will write a descriptive/descriptive paragraph together. (Pages 72-73) TASK: Students will write a paragraph describing their cell phone or computer. (See page 75 - TASK 3) (minimum 100 words) They will talk about its functions, etc. They can also add descriptive sentences.
13 Feedback will be given on homework. 5A) Listening & Speaking. Watch a lecture on the science of Biomimetics and take notes. Academic language: Definitions, explanations, examples. Reading and taking notes on Anthropomorphism. (Pages 65-66-67) WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Students will describe their room (in the dormitory or at home) and write descriptive or descriptive sentences (at least 100 words).
14 Feedback will be given on homework. General review will be done. Preferably 5D) Vocabulary part can be covered. The final exam will be mentioned.
