Course Content
The course focuses on basic midwifery practices and is designed to be application-oriented. The content covers the assessment of maternal vital signs, normal birthing positions, perineal massage, indications and techniques for episiotomy, placenta management, newborn care, and interventions for complications during birth. Students reinforce their skills through practical application in model and simulation environments, gaining experience in clinical decision-making, ethics, and teamwork through case discussions and role-playing. The course provides comprehensive performance assessment through midterm and final practical examinations.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to ensure that students gain the competence to apply the fundamental midwifery skills commonly used during the birth process in a safe, effective, and evidence-based manner. Students will develop their clinical skills and enhance professional practice safety by learning fundamental procedures such as episiotomy, perineal massage, placenta management, assessment of maternal vital signs, and newborn care. The course also aims to strengthen students' problem-solving, clinical decision-making, and teamwork competencies.
