Weekly Detailed Course Contents
| Week | Topics |
|---|---|
Introducing design principles and elements and course content. Light and Tone Element. Studies on creating black and white value bar.
Creating composition sketches on a background divided by squares, using the element of light. Paying attention to selected geometric or organic composition pieces, toning them within the framework of the principle of balance by using medium grays - dark grays - black areas - white areas in the square areas on them.
Line element. Examining line types. Drawing patterns and developing sketches using linear expression, using elements that will create a repetitive visual texture in the environment, inside or outside the building. (Examining works with line emphasis by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Albert Dürer and Turgut Zaim)
Selecting an area from the developed composition and transferring that area to Bristol paper, creating a line sheet from ten-piece rectangular areas. Creating alternative compositions using horizontal, vertical, oblique, tapering, thickening, zigzag, vibrating and dashed lines within the parts of the sheet.
Enlarging composition parts with Negative-Positive, Surface-Mass principles. Experimenting with the use of ink pens and brush pens. Creating point element, object studies and value bar. (Examining pointillism and the works of Pisarro and Seurat)
Volume – Depth – Perspective. Object studies. Mechanical object drawings, mediocre -top-side and perspective drawing.
Geometric form drawings within the framework of perspective rules, measured letter drawings with a single escape. Point of view, viewing distance and height, horizon line and point, understanding and application on the plan.
Double-point perspective applications, measured drawings of letters, boxes, stairs and different geometric forms.
Abstraction and graphic expression studies through mechanical object drawings. (Abstract artists, Wasily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso, Nurullah Berk review)
Application studies on the composition related to the principle of Contrast and Movement and the Stain element. Expressing compositions created from pieces inspired by the abstracted object in black and white, and creating positive and negative.
Principle of Repetition and Principle of Direction. Creating unit repetition alternatives by selecting parts from the object, placing them in the triangle and square viewfinder, and rotating them in different directions.
Application studies of two-dimensional unit repetitions by changing their directions.
Texture and Voluminous Texture. Researching and producing original units of the same size by folding, bending and cutting three-dimensional papers of different thicknesses.
The application of selected volumetric units by placing them on a background at close intervals, creating volumetric textures.
