Course Content
This course examines law as a social institution and its interaction with society from a sociological perspective. In addition to classical and contemporary approaches to the sociology of law, concepts such as the relationship between law and power, social change, justice, equality, and human rights are discussed, and examples of the relationship between law and society in Turkey are evaluated.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of the Sociology of Law course is to consider law not only as a normative system but also as a social phenomenon; to discuss the relationship of law with social order, culture, politics, economy and daily life; and to enable students to develop a critical perspective on law, justice and social order.
