Course Content
This course includes readings about book chapters, research articles, project reports on the basic topics of social work. In addition, students are encouraged to speak and make presentations on related topics orally.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to bring our students to the level of proficiency in which they can express themselves verbally and in written English, and understand what they read, both during their university education and after graduation.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 Course Introduction: Presentation of the textbook and course outline, discussion of student expectations and classroom rules. Ice-breaking activities and an overview of the skills covered in the course.
2 Communication 1 – How to Communicate Successfully: Identifying effective communication skills. Discussing how we communicate at work or school, analyzing communication-related scenarios, and sharing personal experiences of good or bad communication.
3 Communication 2 – Effective Communication at Work: Focusing on effective verbal communication in the workplace. Analyzing communication mistakes in sample scenarios, discussing recent communication experiences, and evaluating the communication skills of people seen on television.
4 Goal Setting – SMART Goals: Learning how to set and develop SMART goals. Discussing goal-setting strategies and sharing personal goals in class.
5 Goal Setting – Projects and Reflections: Conducting a survey about New Year's resolutions and presenting the results. Reflecting on personal motivation and goal-setting habits.
6 Teamwork – The Importance of Teamwork: Understanding the value of teamwork and sharing past experiences related to working in teams.
7 Teamwork – Collaboration in Nature and Practice: Exploring examples of teamwork in nature (e.g. animals) and presenting findings. Discussing how these examples relate to human teamwork.

9 Critical Thinking – Understanding the Process: Introducing the steps of critical thinking and applying them in real-life examples.
10 Critical Thinking – Analyzing and Solving Issues: Identifying problems, evaluating possible solutions, and practicing decision-making as a class.
11 Leadership – What Makes a Good Leader? Exploring leadership traits and discussing how leadership skills can be developed.
12 Leadership – Learning from Famous Leaders: Researching a well-known leader and presenting their leadership qualities in class.
13 Review and Reflection: A comprehensive review of all the topics covered throughout the course, including communication skills, goal setting, teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership. Students reflect on their learning progress, revisit key activities and vocabulary, and present final reflections or mini-projects based on what they have learned.
