Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
Meeting and introduction, course objectives; Behaviors required from the student, materials, discipline, absenteeism, exam type and weeks are discussed.
The words, sentences and phrases necessary to buy a flight ticket are taught. Language materials are given firstly auditory and then literary.
Questions that may be encountered when purchasing a flight ticket and the answers to these questions are taught. In this regard, the intonation and emphasis of the sentences used when asking or answering questions are important.
In the 2nd and 3rd weeks, an exercise related to what is taught is prepared and the students are paired and made to do it. A video that can serve as an example on this subject can be watched.
The names and nationalities of several countries are taught (well-known countries, especially those of foreign students, should be taken into consideration). Emphasis is placed on the writing and pronunciation of words in the target language. Students are asked to write the sentences and phrases they will use to choose a country they want to go to and buy a ticket at the airport to go to that country.
Combination: students are asked to prepare and present the dialogue between two people selling and buying tickets in a single dialogue.
MIDTERM EXAM If the class size is less than 25 people, it is done orally in the form of questions and answers. For this, the teacher may have some suitable language materials to prepare before the exam. (If the class size is 25, an oral exam is held, and if the class size is above 25, a written exam is held. The scope and style of the oral exam are similar to those given in the course. Written exams consist of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and/or short paragraphs.)
The topics before the midterm exam are reviewed again as a reminder. An activity related to this is prepared and presented.
All signs and wording possible at an airport are presented in the target language. An exercise is prepared on this subject. In this lesson, some directional words (e.g. right, left, above, below, etc.) are taught or reminded if they have not been taught before.
Questions that can be asked to find any place at the airport and the answers that can be given to them are determined and taught together with the students.
All information, expressions and sentences on a Passport and a ticket are taught in the target language. This subject is practiced. Students are asked to bring their passports (or find a copy online) to bring next week.
Students are paired and asked to transfer the information in their passports to each other in the target language. For this lesson, the relevant teacher previously finds a sample ticket image on the internet and brings it to the class, and the students are paired and asked to tell each other where they will go and the information on the ticket.
Questions that can be asked at the passport control counter and the answers to be given are taught. Exercise is given on this subject.
Students are paired together and asked to prepare and act out a dialogue that could develop between the passenger and the officer at the passport counter.
