Course Content
Explanation of the translation process in the Turkish States established in Anatolia before the Republic and the Republican period.
Objectives of the Course
To inform the students about the beginning of the translation process in Turks, its development and reaching to the present day.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 The Arabic word translation, which is the equivalent of the word translation, was emphasized and information was given about its origin. In addition, in addition to the word translation, detailed explanations were made about the areas where the words translator and interpreter are used.
2 The dictionary and terminology meanings of the word translation were emphasized, explanations were made about the use of both meanings and examples were given. Then the history of Turkish translation is introduced and a brief information about the process is given.
3 Information about the historical process of Turkish translation history from the beginning has been given, the topics covered in this process have been summarized, and important sources in this field have been introduced.
4 The functions, methods and some problems related to the history of translation in Turkey have been emphasized, solutions have been discussed, some translation texts have been analyzed, and information about the methods and methods have been given.
5 In the periods before the Ottomans, information about translation methods, fields, important translators and translations were given, and some sample translations were examined in class.
6 The history of translation in the periods before the Seljuk Turks was emphasized; information about the beginning of translation in Turks in general was given, followed by information about the first translations made in Anatolia.
7 Translation studies in the early Ottoman period, the fields in which these studies were mostly carried out and who the most famous translators were were explained and examples of their works were given.
8 The translation activities that took place in the later Ottoman period were emphasized, information was given about the most famous translators, their works were explained and examples were given.
9 The translation activities in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire were emphasized, and it was explained in which areas and from which languages translations were mostly made. Well-known translators and translations were mentioned and examples were given.
10 The translation activities in the Republican period were emphasized and it was explained in which fields and from which languages translations were mostly made in the first periods of the republic. Famous translators and translations were mentioned and examples were given.
11 The translation activities that took place in the later Republican period were discussed and it was explained in which fields and from which languages more translations were made in those periods. Well-known translators and translations were mentioned and examples were given.
12 The translation activities in the last period of the Republic were emphasized and it was explained in which fields and from which languages translations were mostly made in that period. Prominent translators were mentioned and examples of their translations were given.
13 Turkish translation traditions were compared with Arabic translation traditions and the differences and similarities between them were tried to be determined. The history of the beginning of the translation tradition in Arabs and the languages from which translations were mostly made were explained with examples.
14 Information was given about the unit established in the Ottomans under the name of the Tercume Odası, detailed explanations were made about its fields of activity and the activities carried out, and examples were given.
