Course Content
Öğrenciler ders kapsamında en az iki farklı proje ile yazı karakteri tasarımı sürecini deneyimlerler. Yazı karakterlerini tasarlarken verilen konuya uygun eskizler üretip bu eskizleri grid sistemi ile düzenli bir yazı karakteri üretirler. Adobe Illustrator ve Fontlab programları yardımı ile üretilen yazı karakterleri bilgisayar ortamlarında kullanılabilir hale getirilirler. Tasarımların zamanında bitirilmesi ve yaratıcı bir şekilde sunulabilmesi de ders içeriklerindendir.
Objectives of the Course
The primary aim of the course is to learn the path followed while creating a typeface by experiencing the process from the sketching stage to the drawing in the computer environment and from there until it becomes a working typeface. It is also one of the aims of the course to be able to follow today's contemporary typeface designers and the characters they design.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 Providing information about the content of the course. Defining font design. Discussing typeface design with examples. Providing information about font designers.
2 Giving students the topic of the application project. Explaining the design process and starting theoretical research on the subject.
3 Filtering the information obtained as a result of theoretical research and proceeding with the font sketching process. Discussion and evaluation based on the font sketches brought by the students.
4 Criticizing the sketches and approving the works for the digital environment begins. Explaining the process of transferring font designs to digital media through Adobe Illustrator and Fontlab programs.
5 Criticizing sketches and digitalized works.
6 Criticizing sketches and digitalized works. Making the necessary explanations for the visa submission of the projects.
7 Criticizing works transferred to digital media. Making the necessary explanations for the visa submission of the projects and final checks before the exam.
8 Midterm
