Recognition of Prior Learning

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Doctoral Program at KTO Karatay University allows for the recognition of previously completed academic courses and studies if they are compatible with the program. Students may request recognition of prior courses and work before starting the doctoral program. The rules applied according to the Graduate Education Regulations are as follows:

  • Course Exemption: Graduate-level courses successfully completed at other higher education institutions may be exempted if they are relevant to the field.
  • Seminar Requirement: Even if exemptions are granted, students are still required to take the seminar course.
  • Grade and Credit Recognition: Exempted courses are reflected in the program with the corresponding letter grade of the original course.
  • Program Alignment: Decisions regarding which courses the student must take and at which stage they will continue in the program are made based on the recommendation of the department and the approval of the Institute’s Administrative Board. For students transferring laterally, additional courses may be assigned.

This approach supports students in efficiently and effectively integrating into the doctoral program while valuing their prior academic achievements.
