About Program

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Doctoral Program aims to train experts capable of scientifically examining health and safety issues encountered in the workplace, developing new solution strategies, and making original contributions to the field through an interdisciplinary approach.

The program integrates engineering, health sciences, law, social sciences, and management, providing a strong educational foundation both theoretically and practically. Students gain advanced knowledge and skills to investigate current issues in occupational health and safety, analyze risks, develop innovative prevention methods, and formulate policy recommendations.

During the doctoral process, students engage in courses and research projects covering a wide range of topics, including ergonomics, risk management, industrial hygiene, psychosocial risks, prevention of work accidents and occupational diseases, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence applications. The program supports scientific productivity in occupational health and safety at both national and international levels while developing applied studies in collaboration with public institutions and the private sector.

Graduates of this program can serve as academicians at universities, as well as professionals, consultants, managers, and policy developers in the field of occupational health and safety.

According to the “Regulation on the Duties, Authorities, Responsibilities, and Training of Occupational Safety Experts” in force in Turkey, graduates of faculties providing engineering or architecture education, as well as technical personnel*, who hold a doctorate in occupational health and safety or occupational safety programs, are eligible to directly apply for the A-class Occupational Safety Expert certificate. Thus, doctoral graduates can perform the highest level of occupational safety expert duties not only in academia but also in the workplace, taking on strategic roles in preventing and managing risks and enhancing safety culture.

*Technical personnel refers to technical teachers, physicists, chemists, or biologists, as well as graduates of university undergraduate or associate degree programs in occupational health and safety.
