Assessment & Evaluation Methods

Assessment and evaluation in the KTO-Karatay University Graduate Programs are conducted in accordance with the Graduate Education, Teaching, and Examination Regulations.

Article 17:

  1. Attendance Requirements:
    • Students must attend at least 70% of theoretical classes and 80% of practical/laboratory sessions to be eligible for midterm, final, or make-up exams.
    • Attendance records are entered into the automation system by the course instructor before the exams.
    • Students exceeding the absence limit in any registered course will receive an FX grade from the instructor.
    • Excuses such as reports, disciplinary sanctions, or similar reasons are not accepted as valid absence excuses.
  2. Exam Types:
    • There are three types of exams: midterm, final/make-up, and excused make-up exams.
    • Projects, assignments, laboratory or workshop work conducted during the semester may count as midterm assessments.
    • Students with valid excuses may take a make-up exam during the semester; the date is set by the department chair.
  3. Grade Determination:
    • The effect of exams and assignments on the final grade is determined by the instructor and recorded in the automation system and Bologna forms at the beginning of the semester.
    • Students’ success is assessed based on midterm exams, semester-long projects, assignments, lab reports, short quizzes, and similar activities.

  3. Graduation GPA:
    • The cumulative GPA as of the graduation date.

Article 19: Objection and Re-evaluation of Exam Results

  • Students may submit written objections to the Institute within one week of the exam results announcement due to material errors.
  • The course instructor reviews the objection, and if a material error is confirmed, the grade is corrected and reported to the Institute within one week.
  • Any corrections are approved by the Institute Administrative Board.
  • The instructor’s grade is final.
