Course Content
The concept of addiction, addictive substances, substance addiction diagnostic criteria, addiction process and cycle, psycho-social characteristics of substance addicts; problems they experience; prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of substance addiction, social work interventions for substance addicts and their families; sample cases.
Objectives of the Course
It is to introduce the field of substance abuse and to enable students to acquire the necessary professional knowledge and skills to perform social work intervention at micro, mezzo and macro levels through case studies in this field.

6 Treatment of addiction (basic principles in treatment, stages of treatment, meeting with a substance user and referral to treatment)
