Course Content
In this course, we will consider psychoanalysis from several perspectives: 1- as a theory emphasizing the essentiality of the unconscious about the functioning of the human mind, 2- as an effort to understand psychopathology and as a psychotherapeutic intervention, and 3- as an approach to relate social and cultural phenomena to the human psyche. Psychoanalysis can be considered as an effort of about 130 years. Since it will not be possible to go through this effort all at once, the aim of this course is to raise a curiosity towards the concept of the unconscious by considering the texts of Sigmund Freud and the concepts developed around these texts. It is hoped that this aim will also affect the approach to psychopathology and psychological intervention.
Objectives of the Course
Psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy theories will be explained with the stories of leading theorists in the historical process. It is aimed to gain a theoretical perspective on psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapies by emphasizing psycho-dynamic theories, basic concepts and technique.
