Course Content
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD); basic skills for persons with ASD; teaching basic skills in ASD; teaching matching skills, classifying skills, basic imitation skills, two-step imitation skills, basic receptive skills, twostep receptive skills, joint attention skills, expressive language skills; methods and techniques in teaching basic skills: discrete trial teaching, pivotal response training, reinforcement, prompting, correcting
Objectives of the Course
This lesson aims students to learn how to teach the following skills to children with autism: attention directing; understanding directives; imitating skills; matching and classifying skills; communication skills; play skills; learning choosing and preferring; joint attention; interaction with peers.
