Course Content
Cultural introduction, language introduction, numbers, greetings, farewells, personal information, countries, nationality, age, shopping, asking for repeated information and apologizing.
Objectives of the Course
To develop the ability to communicate in short periods of time through simple expressions, simple sentences and common expressions such as greeting and saying goodbye, asking/giving name and nationality, asking/giving age and hometown, time expressions, currency, shopping and similar skills.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 Introduction and introduction; brief information about language and culture, course objectives; behaviors required from students, materials, discipline, absenteeism, exam type and weeks are discussed. Since Chinese language does not have an alphabet, information is given about how the language structure is. Pinyin table which provides ease of reading and keyboard input for language teaching and words, information about tones in Chinese is given.
2 Exercises are given on the sound system, pronunciation and tones. The greeting phrase "ni hao"and the word "shi"in the noun phrase, which means "-dır, -dır"are taught. The pronouns I, you and he/she are taught. Practices are given on saying one's own name along with these words.
3 The previous lesson is repeated and then the word "ma", which is used to make a question sentence, is taught. The Chinese writing rules and stages of the words "ni hao", "shi"and "ma"are taught. Each student is brought to the board and given a writing exercise. After the writing exercise, the students are divided into groups of two and given an oral exercise.
4 The meaning change that occurs in the sentence with the question suffix "ma"added after the sentence "Ni hao"hello is taught. Students are asked to ask each other questions. The word "ye"with the preposition -de, -da and its usage are taught.
5 The place and spelling of the negative suffix "bu" in a sentence are taught. Sample sentences are created regarding negation. The possessive pronoun "de" and the possessive suffix "you" are taught. Their place and spelling in a sentence are taught. Students are asked to first sit in their seats and then come to the board and do exercises.
6 Information is given about the units of measurement in Chinese. The units of measurement belonging to some words in the unit are taught. Counting numbers, their usage in questions and direct sentences, and making questions with interrogative pronouns are taught using the formula question "How many people are there in your family?". Family members are also taught with this grammar topic.
7 MIDTERM EXAM The same exercise from the previous week is asked in the same exam. (Written exams consist of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and/or short paragraphs.)
8 The meanings of the interrogative pronouns "ji"and "duo shao", meaning how many, and their differences are taught, and students are asked to make sample questions. With these grammar patterns, they are also taught to ask the ages of people and the numbers of things.
9 Time expressions and adjective phrases are taught. Question and answer forms of time expressions and phrases such as "when is your birthday?", "what time is it?" are taught.
10 Direction names and direction expressions are taught. The question "Where is the bank?"is taught and exercises are conducted on questions and answers that give directions and locations in other ways. The word "zai", which is a location suffix, is also taught with its rules of use.
11 Positive+negative sentence structure and question making methods are taught. Forms such as "Is there or not"or "Is it so or not"are taught.
12 The student is asked to create a dialogue by combining what was learned in the 11th week with what was learned in the 9th week.
13 Currencies and shopping sentences are taught. The use of the suffix "ne" and the abbreviations used with this suffix, question sentences, verbal nouns and counting numbers over 100 are taught.
14 The dialogue learned in week 13 is enriched with the dialogue made in week 11. The topics covered throughout the semester are reviewed, and the topics thought to be incomplete are reviewed again.
15 FINAL EXAM All learned knowledge and skills are measured with an exam. (Written exams consist of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and/or short paragraphs.)
