History

KTO Karatay University, named after the Karatay Madrasa, which was the first Foundation Higher Education Institution built by the Seljuks in 1251, was re-established on July 7, 2009 by the Education and Health Foundation of the Konya Chamber of Commerce, which was founded in 1882 and is one of the oldest chambers of commerce in Turkey. 
Establishment studies started with the assumption that a single university is not enough to train and meet the qualified manpower needed by the Konya industry and trade world. For the world of industry and commerce, it is aimed to raise qualified graduates who learn the cuisine of the business as well as the theoretical knowledge they receive and are successful in practice. In the establishment studies, the opinions of the business world and faculty members were taken and the departments needed by the market were determined. More than 20,000 members of the Konya Chamber of Commerce have not spared their support since its establishment and have been instrumental in the establishment to bring a brand university to Konya. After the feasibility studies and examining the sample university models, KTO Karatay University started to draw its vision.
Contributing to social development by producing unique, creative and usable knowledge with a contemporary education system, innovative structure intertwined with life, applied education, sector-oriented education programs that produce qualified graduates who know at least two languages, know the market and do not worry about finding a job. KTO Karatay University, aiming to gain public legal personality with the Additional Article 113 added to the Higher Education Institutions Organization Law No. 2547, published in the Official Gazette dated 07/07/2009 and numbered 27281, with the 1st Article of the Law No. 5913. It was the first foundation university of Turkey.
