The aim of this course is to examine the understanding and mentality of translations made in different periods in terms of light shedding.

1 | Introduction Students are informed about the course content, assessment and evaluation methods and the resources to be used in the course. |
2 | Starting from the Gokturks, translation activities in the Turkish world and the effects of translation on the language and culture of the countries where the translation is made are evaluated. |
3 | Translation activities in the Great Seljuk and Anatolian Seljuk States and the effects of translation on language and culture are analysed. |
4 | Translation activities in Uyghur and Karakhanid States and the effects of translation on social, cultural and economic life are analysed. |
5 | Determine how the social, economic and cultural characteristics of the Anatolian Seljuk State affected translation activities |
6 | Between the 14th and 15th centuries, how the socio-economic characteristics of the Ottoman Empire affected translation activities is analysed. Translation activities especially in the commercial and political fields are discussed. |
7 | Review before midterm exam |
8 | After the 18th century, translation activities, translation theories and works of translation in the Ottoman period are analysed. |
9 | Translation activities in the Republican Period, translation theories and their effects on society are discussed |
10 | The effects of translation on language and culture in the Republican Period are analysed |
11 | The characteristics of the translations made in the Republican Period, the translation methods used are analysed |
12 | The state's view and contribution to translation in the Republican Period is discussed |
