Course Content
Introduction (The Globalization of the World Economy), The Globalization of the World Economy/Definition of Basic Terms in International Economics/Current International Economic Problems, Trade/International Trade Theories/Comparative Advantage and Absolute Advantage, Factor Endowments and the Heckscher-Ohlin Theory, Economies of Scale, Imperfect Competition, and International Trade, Discuss and solve mid-term exam questions, Economic Growth and International Trade, Trade Restrictions: Tariffs, Nontariff Trade Barriers and New Protectionism, New Protectionism (The Political Economy of Protectionism- Nontariff Trade Barriers), Economic Integration: Customs Unions and Free Trade Areas.
Objectives of the Course
This course will help students to have a general knowledge of the global economic system, its significance, and how the interdependencies among economies affect our daily lives.
