Course Content
The course covers topics such as strategic communication skills, advanced written and oral communication in business, effective communication strategies in global business environments, managing cultural differences, international business ethics and professional standards, complex negotiation techniques and leadership communication. In addition, students are prepared for the situations they may encounter in the business world by practicing in real business scenarios and case studies.
Objectives of the Course
It is aimed to enable students to use English at a professional level in the fields of trade and logistics and to enable them to communicate effectively in their careers.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 Introduction and Ice Breaker. Students introduce themselves, their previous professional English experience, and career goals. The course plan, units, and assessment system are explained.
2 5.1 Innovative Product Design. Students study vocabulary related to innovative product design and technological innovation. They describe an innovative product and discuss the importance of innovation in business.
3 5.2 Product Testing. Product development and product testing processes are covered. Students use the Present Perfect Simple with just, already, and yet to talk about completed and unfinished tasks at work.
4 5.3 Communication Skills: Managing Information. Students develop skills for giving information, asking for information, and using different types of questions. They practise asking open and closed questions to get feedback on presentation skills.
5 6.1 Safety at Work. Students learn key vocabulary related to health and safety at work. They discuss workplace safety rules, risks, and accident questionnaires.
6 6.2 Being Security-Conscious. Workplace security measures and security awareness are discussed. Students use modal verbs to talk about prohibition, obligation, and no obligation in the past and present.
7 6.3 Communication Skills: Dealing with Disagreement. Students practise expressions for dealing with disagreement and explaining rules or requirements. They create short dialogues to defend their position and convince someone.
8 Midterm Exam Week. No new topic is covered this week. Students are assessed on the vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills studied in the previous weeks.
9 7.1 Airline Customer Service. Students study vocabulary related to customer service in the airline industry. They discuss quality service, customer satisfaction, and the design of a premium service.
10 7.2 Hanging on the Telephone. Complaints and service problems in telephone conversations are covered. Students use verb + to-infinitive and verb + -ing structures to write a complaint about a service.
11 7.3 Communication Skills: Responding to Customer Concerns. Students develop skills for responding to customer concerns and handling complaints. They role-play customer service situations using appropriate expressions.
12 8.1 Face to Face? Face-to-face and digital communication in the workplace are discussed. Students learn vocabulary related to office communication and prepare a short communication survey.
13 8.2 How to Communicate. Effective workplace communication and communication problems are covered. Students use the first and second conditional to suggest solutions for likely and unlikely situations.
14 8.3 Communication Skills: Closing a Deal. Students practise ways to close a deal in a simple negotiation. They role-play a negotiation and use appropriate business English expressions.
