Course Content
The course emphasizes professional written and oral communication techniques, writing complex business reports and analysis, business meetings and negotiations, project management and presentation skills. In addition, knowledge of professional terminology and industry-specific language is expanded. Students practice by experiencing real business environments through case studies and simulations.
Objectives of the Course
It is aimed to enable students to communicate effectively in complex situations that they may encounter in the fields of trade and logistics and to reinforce their professional correspondence skills.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 Introduction and Ice Breaker. Students introduce themselves, talk briefly about their department, interests, and English learning goals. The course plan, assessment system, and classroom expectations are explained.
2 5.1 Going Cashless. Students study vocabulary related to the economy, money, and personal finance. They discuss cashless payments and create a short advertising idea to persuade people to go cashless.
3 5.2 Consumer Spending. Consumer spending and possible future situations are discussed. Students use the first conditional to talk about spending money, shopping habits, and future plans.
4 5.3 Communication Skills: Negotiating Team Roles. Students practise negotiating roles in a project team. They use expressions for stating preferences, taking roles, and reaching agreement in meetings.
5 6.1 Working Together. Students learn vocabulary related to teamwork. They practise talking about cooperation, task sharing, and planning a meeting in a workplace context.
6 6.2 Team Building. Team building, sport at work, and social activities are covered. Students use pronouns with some- and every- to describe people, places, jobs, and work environments.
7 6.3 Communication Skills: Supporting a Colleague. Students focus on supporting a colleague after a disappointment at work. They use encouraging and motivating expressions to create short dialogues.
8 Midterm Exam Week. No new topic is covered this week. Students are assessed on the vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills studied in the previous weeks.
9 7.1 A Nimble Company. Students study vocabulary related to research and development. They discuss agile companies, product testing, and innovation processes.
10 7.2 Innovation. Innovation, obligation, necessity, and possibility are discussed. Students use can, have to, and need to to explain work processes and rules.
11 7.3 Communication Skills: Giving Explanations. Students develop the skill of giving clear and effective explanations. They explain step by step how to use an app, a system, or a logistics process.
12 8.1 Green Business. Students learn vocabulary related to the environment, sustainability, and green business. They discuss environmental protection and the responsibilities of businesses.
13 8.2 Transport Solutions. Transport solutions and public transport are covered. Students use should, shouldn't, and could to give advice and write a short email with suggestions.
14 8.3 Communication Skills: Giving and Receiving Feedback. Students practise expressions for giving and responding to feedback. They role-play a review meeting and practise giving constructive feedback.
