Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
1 Introduction and Ice Breaker. Students introduce themselves, their department, and their English learning goals. The course plan, units, and assessment system are explained.
2 1.1 Business Travel. Students study vocabulary related to business travel, transport, accommodation, and travel arrangements. They discuss basic needs and services for a business traveller.
3 1.2 Events Management. Events management and choosing a suitable venue are covered. Students use comparatives and superlatives to compare different venues and choose the best place for an event.
4 1.3 Communication Skills: Small Talk. Students develop the skill of starting short and natural conversations in a business context. They practise simple small talk dialogues with colleagues.
5 2.1 Dovetailed in Cambridge. Students learn vocabulary related to places of work and business locations. They practise researching and choosing a suitable location for a company.
6 2.2 Visiting Singapore. Students discuss situations related to city life, tourism, and business through the example of Singapore. They use enough and too to express sufficiency and insufficiency.
7 2.3 Communication Skills: Checking and Clarifying. Students practise expressions for checking, confirming, and clarifying information in meetings. They role-play situations where they ask for and give clarification.
8 Midterm Exam Week. No new topic is covered this week. Students are assessed on the vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills studied in the previous weeks.
9 3.1 The Ziferblat Café. Students study vocabulary related to shops, shopping experiences, and customer habits. They prepare a short survey about shopping habits and discuss the results.
10 3.2 The Retail Experience. Retail experiences and telling stories about past events are covered. Students use the Past Simple and Past Continuous to describe a short shopping experience.
11 3.3 Communication Skills: Solving Workflow Problems. Students practise expressions for identifying and solving workflow problems. They role-play a meeting about a workplace workflow problem.
12 4.1 My Working Life. Students learn vocabulary related to the working day, working life, duties, and contracts. They research different work patterns and explain their expectations about working life.
13 4.2 Executives at Work. Executives in business and personal work experiences are discussed. Students use the Present Perfect Simple to ask and answer questions about past experiences.
14 4.3 Communication Skills: Making Group Decisions. Students practise expressions for making group decisions, discussing proposals, and facilitating a meeting. They role-play a decision-making meeting and evaluate different proposals.
