Course Content
The course content consists of introductory academic English activities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students develop skills such as understanding short academic presentations and lectures, taking notes from texts, interpreting graphs and trends, expressing opinions, making comparisons, and explaining cause-and-effect relationships. The course also includes practice in writing definitions, describing processes, presenting evidence, and using academic vocabulary.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of the course is to develop students'basic academic English skills. The course aims to help students use listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in academic contexts. It also aims to improve students'academic language skills such as interpreting graphs, taking notes, making comparisons, expressing cause and effect, and presenting evidence.

1 Introductions, talking about the objectives and possible outcomes of the course.
2 1A: Listening and Speaking: Understanding short academic presentations, taking notes, and giving a short presentation about oneself and future plans.
3 1B: Reading Recognizing text types, understanding textbook information, and practising basic note-taking.
4 2A: Listening and Speaking: Understanding presentation introductions, noticing presentation language, and giving a short presentation about a website.
5 2C: Writing 1 Writing descriptive sentences with noun phrases and learning how adjectives are used in noun phrases.
6 2C: Writing 2: Analysing a descriptive paragraph and writing a short descriptive paragraph with linking language.
7 2D: Vocabulary and Academic Language: Studying website vocabulary, noun suffixes, antonyms, and language for sequencing and adding information.

9 3A: Listening and Speaking: Taking notes on the main content of a lecture, comparing cities, and using comparative and superlative forms.
10 3D: Vocabulary and Academic Language: Learning location and business vocabulary, compound nouns, and word forms for similarity and difference.
11 4A: Listening and Speaking: Understanding charts and tables, saying numbers exactly or approximately, and giving a short chart-based presentation.
12 5A: Listening and Speaking: Identifying main points in a lecture, taking notes with a mind map, and defining and explaining terms.
13 5C: Writing: Writing clear definition sentences, analysing the structure of a definition paragraph, and explaining with examples.
14 5D: Vocabulary and Academic Language: Studying adjective order, verb–noun vocabulary building, prepositions, and language for definitions, explanations, and examples.
