Course Content
Turkish cities before the Ottoman; Turkish cities before Islam, Turkish city structuring after Islam, urban heritage inherited by the Ottomans from Byzantium, urban heritage inherited by the Ottomans from the principalities, physical structure of Ottoman cities; defense facilities / fortresses, residential areas, manufacturing and commercial areas, places of public buildings, religious and social structures; Religious structures, educational institutions, other charities, reconstruction in Ottoman cities after the Tanzimat, issues are the content of this course.
Objectives of the Course
After focusing on Turkish urbanism from the earliest dates, it is to create an urbanism consciousness by examining the socio-economic structures of Ottoman period cities with examples.
