Course Content
This course aims to read the signs of Ottoman Culture and Civilization through the outstanding examples of Classical Turkish Literature, which started in the thirteenth century and reached its peak in the sixteenth century. The classic poems of poets who have found an important place in world literature will be read and translated into today's language with the students. Thus, a bridge will be built to the culture and civilization of the past.
Objectives of the Course
The course aims to examine the traces of Ottoman Culture and Civilization through the distinguished poets and couplets of Classical Turkish Poetry from the thirteenth to the nineteenth centuries. Based on the couplets, a wide range of cultural accumulation in the Ottoman Empire such as architecture, archery and astronomy will be transferred.
