Course Content
Cell organelles and nucleus, cell cycle and cell divisions, genetic material, DNA and chromosomes, RNA gene expression control, epigenetics, protein synthesis, structure and function, mutations, repair and apoptosis, molecular techniques in food analysis, Mendelian genetics, morphological characteristics of chromosomes, chromosomal disorders, autosomal dominant and recessive inheritance, multifactorial inheritance, mitochondrial inheritance, sex-linked inheritance, population genetics, food allergies, cancer cell development.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge about the basic structure and functions of the cell, the characteristics of genetic material, mechanisms of inheritance, and fundamental molecular biology processes, and to help them understand the relevance of this knowledge to health sciences and physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
