Course Content
Basic statistical concepts; descriptive statistics; tables and graphs; sampling methods; normal distribution and hypothesis testing; correlation and regression analysis.
Objectives of the Course
Basic statistical concepts, descriptive statistics, creating and interpreting tables and graphics, basic sampling methods, concepts of standard error and confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation and simple to teach linear regression analysis.

1 Basic statistical concepts statistics, biostatistics, usage areas of biostatistics, universe, sample, statistics, parameters, data, variables, data types
2 Descriptive statistics classification of data, mean and position measures, prevalence measures.
3 Tables and graphics univariate table (marginal table) and graphs: histogram, bar graph, branch-leaf graph, box-line graph, mean-standard deviation graphs
4 Two / multi variable tables and graphs Cross tabulations, multivariable applications of basic graphical representations, scatter graphs

6 Sampling methods, Standard error and confidence intervals
