Course Content
In the face of the political, economic, cultural, and socio-psychological problems that emerged as a result of the encounter between Western cultures and Turkish culture, the reform movements carried out within the framework of seeking solutions in the Ottoman State, which began to disintegrate and collapse, and the political events experienced during the transition from empire to nation-state, as well as the establishment of the Republic of Turkey as a result of the national struggle led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, will be discussed.
Objectives of the Course
To equip students with the ability to understand and interpret historical heritage in a way relevant to the present, enabling them to establish connections between yesterday and today and to recognize the relationship between time, place, and people.
