| Methods and Techniques | Bu derste; anlatım (sunum), soru-cevap, tartışma, vaka analizi, problem temelli öğrenme, beyin fırtınası teknikleri kullanılacaktır. Ayrıca sterilizasyon ve dezenfeksiyon süreçlerine yönelik örnek olay incelemeleri, merkezi sterilizasyon ünitesi (MSÜ) iş akışına ilişkin uygulama örnekleri, sterilizasyon yöntemleri ve dezenfektanların kullanımına yönelik güncel rehber ve protokollerin değerlendirilmesi (örneğin World Health Organization ve Centers for Disease Control and Prevention kılavuzları doğrultusunda), görsel-işitsel materyallerle desteklenen öğretim, beceri laboratuvarı uygulamaları ve öğrenci sunumları ile aktif katılım sağlanacaktır. |

Course Content
As part of the Sterilization and Disinfection course: definitions and abbreviations, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) areas, technical and architectural infrastructure of the CSSD, properties, quality, and control of water used in the CSSD, the CSU team, their training, duties, and responsibilities; personal protective equipment and employee health; infection risk classification of medical devices and surfaces; transport and washing of used medical devices; maintenance, inspection, and packaging of surgical medical devices; sterilization methods; validation and routine monitoring of the sterilization process; storage, transport, and usage procedures for sterile materials; The program will cover topics such as cleaning, risk management, and quality management, as well as antiseptics, disinfectants, and effective disinfection practices at MSÜ.
Objectives of the Course
The objective of this course is to ensure that students studying in the field of operating room services acquire fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills regarding sterilization, disinfection, and aseptic and antiseptic practices. The course aims to enable students to understand the scientific principles underlying methods for controlling microorganisms and to develop the competence to plan, implement, and evaluate sterilization and disinfection processes in accordance with established standards. Additionally, the course aims to foster safe work practices in accordance with infection control, patient and staff safety, quality management, and relevant national and international guidelines.
