Course Content
The course content is primarily built upon the foundational topics of IT Law. The main subjects include relevant cybercrime provisions within the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) (such as blocking access, data theft, system sabotage), the Law No. 5651 on the Regulation of Publications Made on the Internet, Intellectual Property Law, and, most importantly, the practical applications of the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK/GDPR Equivalent). Furthermore, Judicial Procedures in Cybercrimes and Digital Evidence, which covers the processes for collecting evidence in cyber incidents, and ethical principles in cybersecurity are also within the scope of the course.
Objectives of the Course
The main goal of the "Information Technology Law" course is to teach students the legal framework and ethical responsibilities they must adhere to when implementing cybersecurity technologies. It is aimed that technology specialists responsible for securing information systems conduct their activities in compliance with the law and possess legal knowledge concerning personal data protection and the fight against cybercrime. Consequently, students gain the competence to protect both themselves and their organizations against legal risks.
