Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week Topics
Introductions and introductions, objectives of the course, behaviors required of students, materials, discipline, absenteeism, types of exams and weeks are discussed.
The words, sentences and phrases needed to buy a plane ticket are taught. Language materials are presented first aurally and then literarily.
Questions that may be encountered when buying a plane ticket and the answers to these questions are taught. In this regard, the intonation and emphasis of the sentences used when asking or answering questions are important.
In the 2nd and 3rd weeks, an exercise related to what has been taught is prepared and students are paired to do it. A video that can serve as an example on this subject can be shown.
The names and nationalities of several countries are taught (well-known countries, especially those of foreign students, should be taken into account). The spelling and pronunciation of words in the target language is emphasized. Students are paired and asked to choose a country they would like to visit and write sentences and phrases they would use to buy a ticket at the airport to go to that country.
Consolidation: students are asked to prepare and present a single dialog between two people selling and buying tickets.
MIDTERM EXAM If the class size is below 25, it is done orally in the form of question and answer. For this, there may be some appropriate language materials that the teacher should prepare before the exam. (If the class size is 25, the exam is oral, and if the class size is above 25, the exam is written. The scope and style of the oral exams are similar and identical to those given in class. Written exams consist of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and/or short paragraphs).
The topics before the midterm exam are reviewed as a reminder. A related activity is prepared and presented.
All signs and phrases that can be found at an airport are presented in the target language. An exercise on this topic is prepared. In this lesson, some directional words (e.g. right, left, above, below, etc.) are taught or reminded if they have not been taught before.
The questions that can be asked to find a place at the airport and the answers to them are identified and taught together with the students.
All information, expressions and sentences on a passport and a ticket are taught in the target language. They are made to practice this. Students are asked to bring their passports (or find an example on the internet if they don't have one) to bring next week.
Students are paired and asked to exchange the information in their passports in the target language. For this lesson, the teacher finds a sample ticket picture on the internet and brings it to the class. Students are paired and asked to tell each other where they are going and the information on the ticket.
The questions that can be asked at the passport control counter and the answers to be given are taught. Practices about this subject are made.
Students are paired up and asked to prepare and act out a dialog between a passenger and an official at the passport counter.
FINAL EXAM is an oral test of all learned knowledge and skills in written or question-answer form.
