Course Content
General information on wooden materials, joining tools used in wooden construction, tension and pressure bars, rods subjected to eccentric pressure, simple and combined beams, lattice beams.

Week Topics
1 Introduction, properties of wooden material, loads considered in wooden structures and loading types.
2 Safety stresses and reduction amounts to be made on them. Smallest sections, section attenuation.
3 Coupling means: Threaded connections: Single and double threaded connections.
4 Wedge Joints: Wooden prismatic wedges, special shaped steel wedges.
5 Specially shaped steel wedges. Bolted and pin keyed joints.
6 Spiked joints.
7 Steel plate nailed joints.
8 Use of various joining means together.
9 Drawbars: General information, Applications related to towbars.
10 Pressure bars: General information, One-piece pressure bars.
11 Adjacent multi-piece pressure bars.
12 Adjacent multi-piece pressure bars; Simple and unified beams.
13 Adjacent multi-piece pressure bars; Simple and unified beams.
14 Truss beams.
