Course Content
The aim of this course is to examine individuals' interactions with others in a social context, group processes, and interpersonal relationships within the framework of the fundamental theories and findings of social psychology. Within the scope of the course, students will be able to analyze fundamental areas of social behavior, such as group dynamics, conformity and obedience, prosocial behavior, aggression, and close relationships, from both theoretical and practical perspectives. They will also be able to critically evaluate the effects of social power, authority, and social context on individual behavior.
Objectives of the Course
This course is a continuation of Social Psychology I and focuses on interpersonal interactions and group-based processes. The course covers group formation and group dynamics, social identity and intergroup relations, conformity and obedience processes, prosocial behavior, and psychological and social explanations of aggression. In addition, interpersonal processes such as close relationships, love, attachment, power, and conflict are discussed in light of social psychological theories and classic experiments. The course supports students in critically evaluating theoretical knowledge through current social examples and case discussions.
