Course Content
This course starts with the definition, importance and functions of capital markets. Financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, derivative instruments, other investment instruments traded in the market and their characteristics are discussed. The roles of intermediary institutions, investment funds, portfolio management companies and central clearing and settlement institutions in capital markets are explained. In addition, the legal framework regulating capital markets and supervisory institutions, investor rights and market surveillance are important components of the course. Students gain the ability to monitor developments and market trends in capital markets and gain knowledge about investment and portfolio management processes.
Objectives of the Course
This course aims to introduce students to the structure and functioning of capital markets and the institutions operating in these markets. By providing information about the role of capital markets on the economy, types of financial instruments and investment processes, students gain the competence to make effective decisions in capital markets and understand market mechanisms. Students gain knowledge about the functioning of market actors and legal regulations and develop an awareness of the global dimensions of capital markets.
