Course Content
This course covers a broad range of topics related to Human Resource Management. It begins by examining the role of HRM in achieving organisational goals and the strategic alignment of HR practices with business objectives. Students will then explore the various functions of HRM, including workforce planning, recruitment, selection, onboarding, training and development, performance appraisal, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and legal compliance. Special emphasis will be placed on emerging trends and challenges in HRM, such as managing a diverse workforce, fostering employee engagement, leveraging technology in HR practices, and navigating ethical and legal considerations. Through case analyses, role-play exercises and hands-on projects, students will apply HRM concepts and principles to real-world scenarios and develop the critical thinking, problem-solving and interpersonal skills necessary for success in HRM roles.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of the Human Resource Management (HRM) course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, practices and challenges associated with effectively managing human capital in organisations. By examining topics such as recruitment, selection, training, performance management, compensation and employee relations, students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to attract, develop, motivate and retain talent in line with organisational objectives. Through a combination of theoretical foundations, case studies and practical applications, this course aims to equip students with the competencies needed to navigate the complexities of HRM in a variety of organisational settings and develop their ability to make strategic decisions and contribute to organisational success.
