Course Content
Basic concepts of the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics and their combined application in thermal systems. The concept of exergy analysis; calculations of physical and chemical exergy. Modeling mass, energy, and exergy balances. Applications of exergy analysis to various thermal systems. Calculation and significance of exergy loss in thermal systems.
Objectives of the Course
To help students understand the role and importance of exergy analysis in thermal systems and engineering design. To enable students to examine advanced thermodynamic cycles by establishing mass, energy, and exergy balances during exergy analysis applications. To develop students'mathematical modeling skills in thermal system design.
