Islamic Economics and Finance Graduate Program Without Thesis

This course covers the scope of international economics, theories of absolute and comparative advantage, factor endowment theory, new trade theories, the effects of trade on income distribution and welfare, the objectives and instruments of trade policy, economic integration, and the international trading system. It also examines the balance of payments, foreign exchange markets, exchange rate determination, exchange rate regimes, macroeconomic policies in open economies, international capital flows, financial crises, and the international monetary system.

This course aims to equip students with an understanding of the fundamental theories of international trade and international monetary relations and enable them to analyse the causes of trade, its economic effects on countries, and the implications of trade policies. It also aims to develop students’ ability to evaluate economic policies in open economies by examining the relationships among the balance of payments, foreign exchange markets, exchange rate regimes, and international capital flows.
