Definition and understanding of the concepts of Conservation and Restoration in Textile
Objectives of the Course
It covers the definition and understanding of the concepts of Conservation and Restoration in textiles, the definition of organic and inorganic material groups, the causes of deterioration of these materials with different properties and the precautions to be taken. Basic information is given to the guests to comprehend the importance of conservation and restoration in the field of textiles, the basic concepts of conservation, restoration and repair, the protection of textiles against deterioration and the definition, control and measurement of humidity, temperature, light, air pollution and biological factors that cause deterioration. The importance of restoration in the world and in Turkey, its development, institutions and working styles related to restoration are examined. In the light of this information, making small-scale applications with some techniques used in conservation and restoration on the textile sample and consolidating the theoretical knowledge constitute the content of the course.
