Course Content
Pre-Islamic Turkish Art, Islamic Period Turkish Art, Ottoman Art, Eastern and Islamic Arts, and Turkish Handicrafts will be examined through applications and examples.
Objectives of the Course
The aim is to examine the artworks of Turks and related Eastern cultures (Islamic-Mesopotamian-Indian) from Central Asia to the present day, chronologically and thematically. It also seeks to develop the ability to analyze pre- and post-Islamic Turkish-Islamic architecture, handicrafts, and visual arts, to understand cultural heritage, and to interpret them using art history methods.

4 Great Seljuk Art: Architecture, Ornamentation, and Handicrafts.
5 Anatolian Seljuk Art I: Architectural Structures (Mosques, Madrasahs).
6 Anatolian Seljuk Art II: Stone and Tile Decoration Arts.
7 Art of the Beyliks Period and Early Ottoman Architecture in Anatolia.
