Course Content
Natural Stones, Aggregates, Binding Materials: Lime, Gypsum, Cement, Pozzolanes, Additives, Factors Affecting Concrete Strength, Properties of Fresh Concrete, Concrete Mix Calculation, Concrete Production, Hardened Concrete Properties.
Objectives of the Course
To introduce the properties of building materials and their relationship with the internal structure; to introduce standards, laws and regulations related to the material, to explain the conditions and production method of the material production accordingly, to introduce the types of damage and damage rates that will occur in different environmental conditions, to explain the defects depending on the physical and chemical properties of the material.

1 Definition and classification of natural stones used as concrete aggregate.
2 Classification and obtaining of aggregates.
3 Qualitative properties of aggregates: Grain shape, strength, durability.
4 Physical properties of aggregates: Unit weight, specific gravity, composite, porosity.
5 Laboratory: Determination of water content, granulometry, aggregate mixing ratios in aggregates.
6 Binding materials: Definition, classification, gypsum, air lime, water lime, cement, oxides. Hydration, hardening and hardening.
7 Physical properties of cement: Fineness, specific gravity, setting time.
8 Mechanical properties of cement: bending strength, compressive strength.
9 Laboratory: Determination of physical and mechanical properties of cement.
10 Concrete mixture calculation, quality control, hardened concrete properties: Compressive strength, bending strength, elasticity module
