Course Content
Introduction to casting, classification Casting part design, Runner, riser design, Mold materials, properties and molding, Core preparation, Sand mold casting, Plaster and Ceramic mold casting, Investment casting, Pressure casting, Foam model casting, Wax casting, Continuous casting, Melting and casting furnaces, Casting alloys. Casting simulation
Objectives of the Course
To be able to design suitable castings using basic sciences and technological tools, to gain the ability to design runners and feeders. To understand the casting methods and differences between them and to choose the method for casting a specific part. To introduce all materials and equipments used in casting.
