Course Content
Definition of special education, basic principles related to special education, causes of disabilities, the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, historical perspectives on disability, and the characteristics and education of children with intellectual disabilities, hearing impairments, visual impairments, physical disabilities, speech and communication disorders, chronic illnesses, specific learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, and giftedness. The education of children with developmental differences through play, observed reactions in families of children in need of special education, the state of special education in our country, and institutions and organizations established for this purpose.
Objectives of the Course
In this course, students will learn the situations that require special education.
