Course Content
Definition of the concept of democracy and forms of government that give place to democracy; Tanzimat period democracy movements and political opposition; I. and II. Constitutional Monarchy periods democracy movements and political developments; the establishment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, political associations and activities established during the period of national struggle; the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, political developments and democracy practices of Atatürk; single party period and transition to multi-party life in Turkey; political structure and democracy practices between 1946-1960.
Objectives of the Course
To teach the understanding and tradition of Turkish Democracy in historical background.
