Course Content
Definition of religion and terms related to religion. The phenomenon of religion in primitive societies. The place of the history of religions among scientific disciplines, its methodology, and approaches to religions. The study of the history of religions in the West, the Islamic world, and Turkey. The religious geography of today's world and living religions. Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other Chinese religions. Some syncretic and new religious movements. Traditional Turkish beliefs, Islam, its general history, and fundamental characteristics.
Objectives of the Course
To give enough information about religion, nature of religion, living world religions, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism.
