Course Content
This course covers the fundamental concepts of evidence-based practice and its application in midwifery. Topics covered include: the concept of evidence and evidence-based practice, the hierarchy of evidence (evidence pyramid), clinical decision-making processes, clinical question formulation (PICO/PICOT), literature review methods, and the evaluation of scientific studies in terms of quality and evidence level. Furthermore, the critical examination of evidence generated using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods, and their adaptability to clinical midwifery practices, are discussed. The second phase of the course will address evidence-based practices in the preconception period, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, newborn care, and women's health and menopause.
Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide students with the fundamental principles of evidence-based practice in midwifery; to develop their skills in critically evaluating scientific evidence, applying it to clinical midwifery decisions, and analyzing evidence-based practices in different care settings.
