Course Content
Definition of the concept of democracy and the forms of government that include democracy; Democracy movements and political opposition during the Tanzimat period; Political movements and political developments in the periods of I. and II. Constitutional Monarchy; Establishment of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, political societies established during the period of national struggle and their activities; The establishment of the Republic of Turkey, political developments and practices of Atatürk in democracy; single-party period and transition to multi-party life in Turkey; Political structure and democracy applications between 1946-1960.
Objectives of the Course
To teach the understanding and tradition of Turkish Democracy in historical background.
