Course Content
An overview of Turkestan geography. Russian expansion in the Turkish world. Turkestan khanates, Turkistan during the tsarist period. İdil Ural region and the reform movements in the Crimea, İsmail Gaspıralı and Tercuman Newspaper, Innovation Movements in the North Caucasus and Azerbaijan, Innovation Movements in the Kazakh and Kirghiz steppes, Press in the Russian Turks, Usul-ı Cedit Schools, Abdurreşid İbrahim and Activities, Ufa Kurultayı (April 10-15, 1905), 1st, 2nd and 3rd meetings of Muslims of Russia, Muslim nations and activities in DUMA, revival of nationalism in Russian Turks after 1905 (Musa Akyiğitâde, Fatih Kerimî), World War I and the Turkestan Turks, the 1916 uprisings and their consequences, the Movement of the Pushers, the Revolution of 1917, the First Congregation of All Muslims of Russia (1-11 May 1917), the establishment of the Soviet Union.
Objectives of the Course
To ensure that the students have knowledge of the history and culture of the Turks who live in various regions of the world.
